“May it be to me as you have said”

“May it be to me as you have said” – Lk 1:38 (Mary)

“Oh God, As I sit in your presence and I wait on you I recognize that I don’t need to do my big list of things, in order to be loved by you.

“I don’t have to do more, be more, or even to be better to be loved by you.

“I don’t even have to rid my life of sin to be loved by you.

“You already love me. You already provide for me. You are the one who lifts me up.

“It’s not me. It’s all you.”

This is one of the things that I often have insight into when I meditate. Because meditation is “doing nothing” I can feel like it is a waste of my time and efforts.

But then I realize that it’s a gift. It’s a way to align my life with his intentions for me.

It’s a way of saying, like Jesus did, “but your will, not mine, be done.” Or like Mary, “May it be to me as you have said.
