Why the context of Gideon’s Story matters to us today – Gideon’s Story Part 1
The story of Gideon in the book of Judges is a story that speaks to me every time I read it these days. Why?
It’s so human!
And, it’s so God!
In fact, one of the names of God is revealed in this story. Plus, we also learn about how God graciously speaks to us, understands our weaknesses, and deals with them.
I recorded a bunch of thoughts and it was too much for one video, so here’s the first episode.

This lecture meandered a bit. I wish the fellow doing the lecture were a bit more focused. I have heard it said that Gideon was someone with a “different spirit.” I don’t know what that means. I would like to learn more, so I will watch the other lectures. Thanks, and looks forward to hearing from you.
I don’t believe it meandered at all. As an ordained Elder, I am quite familiar with the Book of Judges. In biblical exegesis in the OT one must first think like aJew in those times (context). Then one searches for the message being conveyed. Then one tries to apply the application of the message into our modern day lives. Dean did just that. Thanks Dean…good job.
