What holds us back?
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” – Marianne Williamson.
“The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation” – Henry David Thoreau
What holds us back from accomplishing greatness?
What keeps us stuck?
I believe that God’s Holy Spirit dwells inside of me. If that’s true, then I have access to the infinite creator at all times, in every situation or circumstance!
So what’s holding me back?
Only my lack of faith. My fears and my limiting beliefs.
Meditation has been shown by numerous studies to help you “get out of your head.” To allow you to achieve the “observer” perspective. This helps you identify those beliefs, ideas, and perspectives that are holding you back.
And I think, when you place meditation back in its original context, of being with God, that’s a far, far more powerful situation.
Now it’s not just me seeing myself. It’s me and God, taking a step back from my life and having a little chat about it. There doesn’t even have to be words. As we stand together and observe my life, our heads lean in closer, he points at something, my head nods, we break our focus to glance at each other in agreement.
When I return to life, my faith has grown.
I’ve spent time with my father. And he loves me and helps me. He forgives me and he offers me hope when I’ve fallen.
I can move into my life again, renewed, and ready to act, to dare greatly. To have courage in the face of the fear of living.
Oh, may you experience the peace of knowing God in this way!
This was a powerful post! What’s simply overwhelmed my thinking in light of meditating along this series is the sheer magnitude of his daily presence–even when I’m choosing myself and my sin over him! I turn my back and cover my eyes, then like a two year old, act like he’s the one who’s missing!
So true! I love how you expressed this. Thanks for sharing!
